My roommate and I rented an apartment from Carrie and her husband. It was brand new, completely renovated, all stainless steel appliances - absolutely gorgeous. We moved in to find that they did not install the washer and drier by the time they were supposed to, there were no screens on our windows, a giant hole in the master bathroom shower, and faulty cable wiring. Naturally we called Carrie to resolve these issues and left her a voicemail. She replied stating they would be fixed but a week later we had not heard anything back so we called again and no response. We left numerous voicemails throughout the weeks and she never returned our calls so we decided to deduct the problems from our rent. After we did that she finally called us and agreed to have the repairs done by a certain adte. Obviously they were never completed. She claimed that she had lost her cell phone TWICE and that she had changed the number and when we asked why she had not informed us of the new number she said that she didn't have to tell us anything. She also said we could only call her during business hours!!! So basically, if you're apartment is on fire, don't call her unless it's between 9 -5! Then she accused us of breaking the door in the entry way of the building because we were having a crazy party!!! My roommate was in Delaware on business and I spent most of my time at my b/f's place cuz the apartment was terrible, so she was basically slandering us! She's crazy!! I called a building inspector to check out the place and he wrote up violations and forced them to have things fixed by a certain date. I come home after being away the weekend to find that someone had been in my apartment - apparently her nutcase husband came in and installed the window screens without having notified my roommate or myself. We were livid! We called to complain and the response was "he was in the area so he figured he'd put the screens in." The inspector had to come THREE times before they made the reuqired repairs. After the screens were installed we started having a bug infestation, they were coming in through the screens and into our bedroom. Of course we called yet again to find Carrie's voicemail still full and we were once more left without any means of contacting her. Finally after two months of unreturned calls and letters we told her we were breaking the lease and to use our security deposit as rent. That's when she sent her goon, Mr. John R. Cupo to see us. You may know of him from owning Cupo realty. However, if you do some reasearch you will discover that he is banned from practicing real estate from NJ - had his license taken away for some unknown reason so beware. Anyway, he said he was the building manager and said that if we paid the rent and got the apartment reassigned to a new tenant he would give us back our security in full - so we stupidly agreed. Of course they gave us back barely half of our deposit back and took out for lawyer fees and other such items. So, we took Carrie to court and got an extra $800 out of her which wasn't entirely what we wanted, but we decided to settle the case in arbitration rather then go in front of the judge. It was more the principal of the matter than the actual money, we were glad to take her to court and see her face to face then take more of her money. This woman and her husband are psychotic slumlords. She, under hte name of Carrie Stefani and her goon John R. Cupo both work at Cupo Realty right otuside the PATH station in Hoboken. Please beware of them both as they are scam artists!! There is another review on here just like mine - she does this to many people!!!
